Indigenous media needs your support

Osiyo supporters,

As many of you know this a tough time for media, particularly Indigenous media. Only .01% of media coverage in the U.S. and Canada is dedicated to Indigenous issues. Worse yet only .03% of philanthropic funding is devoted to Indigenous people and only .03% of those funds are given to Indigenous media.

Story telling is a traditional Indigenous value and way of life and we desperately need your help to continue our work. Our fiscal sponsor, Autistic Women and non-Binary Network, has graciously agreed to allow us to use their platform for a Facebook fundraiser. We're hoping to raise $15,000 from this fundraising source and could use your support by setting up a fundraiser for us on your Facebook profile.

It's really easy to set up the fundraiser. You just use this link and plug Crushing Colonialism's information. Please be sure to change the name of the organization from AWN to Crushing Colonialism (@ircc.resist). This is important so that the funds are routed to us and for organizational transparency. We've included the language below and our logo that you can use in your fundraiser. Feel free to use your Indigenous language or to translate into other languages you speak.

I'm raising money for Crushing Colonialism and your contribution will make an impact. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.

Crushing Colonialism's mission is to uplift and tell the stories of Indigenous people through multi-media work while supporting those doing the work. Our collective is founded and operated by Indigenous people working in a variety of media fields across the world. We work to increase the pay and employment of Indigenous media makers while also promoting their work, providing funding for media projects, and increasing access to professional representation. In doing this we control our narratives in order to crush colonialism.

*The Autistic Women & Nonbinary Network is the fiscal sponsor for Crushing Colonialism. All donations are accepted and processed by AWN with the funds being given to Crushing Colonialism for the organization's use.
